World Journal: Manhattan DA candidate Weinstein visits Fukien American Benevolent Association

Manhattan DA candidate Tali Farhadian Weinstein was endorsed by Fukien American Benevolent Association on May 11 with Hugh Mo and Councilman Peter Koo. Weinstein vowed to protect immigrants, combat hate crime, and enforce the law to make every New Yorker safe.

Weinstein said that she came to the U.S. with her mother when she was four years old. She understands how Asian Americans feel today. She praised the hard work of Fujianese immigrants but said that groups like the Fukien American Association cannot be the only support system to new immigrants. The governments need to do their part.

Koo said that with the increasing Asian hate crime, people are afraid to go out. For New York to recover from the pandemic, public safety needs to be a primary goal. He believed that Weinstein would enforce the law and make perpetrators pay for their crimes.

Chairman Keith Cheng encouraged members to register and vote.
