Statement from Tali Farhadian Weinstein RE: NY AG Eric Schneiderman loses his law license for one year

NEW YORK – “For too long, powerful men have been permitted to continue an open secret of demeaning and abusing women, leaving victims discouraged from coming forward to share their experiences with law enforcement. As prosecutors, we must use our position to denounce these heinous acts and take action at every turn. I hope all of my fellow candidates for the chief law enforcement office of Manhattan will join me in thanking the bar disciplinary committee for finally delivering a sliver of accountability in the case of Eric Schneiderman, a man who has admitted to verbal and emotional abuse and unwanted physical contact with three women while he was in a position of great power and public trust. As district attorney, I will be the change agent Manhattan needs to hold accountable those who commit gender-based violence, and to root it out.”
