Jackie Rowe-Adams, Co-Founder of Harlem Mothers S.A.V.E, Personally Endorses Tali Farhadian Weinstein for Manhattan District Attorney

NEW YORK – Tali Farhadian Weinstein, candidate for Manhattan District Attorney, is proud to announce an endorsement from Jackie Rowe-Adams, co-founder of Harlem Mothers S.A.V.E. Jackie, who is endorsing Tali in her personal capacity, is a passionate advocate for her community and recently joined Tali on her podcast Hearing to explain how gun violence has affected her family and how to address this crisis moving forward.Jackie Rowe-Adams endorses Tali Farhadian Weinstein

“Tali understands that gun violence is the most important public safety crisis in New York City. She knows we need the police to work with us, and knows how to bring them into our community safely,” said Jackie Rowe-Adams. “I’m endorsing Tali for Manhattan district attorney because she is the only person who has taken the time to listen to our personal experiences with gun violence and cares about our needs. Tali has proven to be a dedicated and courageous leader, and I know she will work diligently to ensure our streets are safe for our children.”

Gun violence poses an unacceptable threat to public health and safety. As an Assistant United States Attorney, Tali prosecuted gun violence, including murders, and understands the district attorney must be fearless, fair, and committed to protecting all Manhattanites. Tali knows that addressing gun violence more than about saving lives; it’s also about ensuring that everyone across the borough can thrive in their neighborhoods. Increases in violence have an economic toll on neighborhoods and are correlated with lower academic performance among children and job loss.

Harlem has paid a higher price to gun violence than many Manhattan neighborhoods, and its communities deserve better. This Thanksgiving, Tali joined Jackie and Harlem Mothers S.A.V.E. to pass out holiday provisions and meet with the families of children lost to gun violence. And last week, Tali was honored to join Harlem Mothers S.A.V.E.’s support group for grieving parents. It takes connection with communities to understand what’s really needed to respond effectively to violence in their midst.

“I’m deeply honored to be endorsed by Jackie Rowe-Adams, a hero and leader for so many in Harlem and across the city,” said Tali Farhadian Weinstein. “I don’t know Jackie’s pain, but I know I must do what I can to prevent others from suffering what she has. And I believe that we cannot take on gun violence without working directly with the organizations already on the ground like Harlem Mothers S.A.V.E, which has been doing incredible work since 2006. I look forward to continuing to work together in partnership with Jackie now and when I’m in office.”

In September, Tali announced a diverse and complex 10-point plan to stop the ongoing threat of gun violence. Tali’s approach combines targeted and swift enforcement of existing laws, with a renewed focus on community engagement and collaboration, and stopping violence before it can spread. Addressing domestic violence is a key part of this issue, which is why she will bring a new Family Justice Center to Upper Manhattan and establish a Bureau of Gender-Based Violence.
